Jacob Thompson wins by KO in London…
On Saturday June 22nd at The MTGP Fight Night, Crystal Palace National Stadium, London. Jacob Thompson took on Elson Patrick in the 66kg A class division.
Round 1:
Both fighters came out firing off early with an exchange of kicks before a short tie up in the first clinch of the day. The fighters settled down after this and Thompson landed a lovely teep followed by two nice low kicks. Patrick fired back with a low kick of his own and tried to keep Thompson at range using his clear reach advantage. As Thompson stepped in he was met with beautiful elbow from Patrick and it opened him up below the left eye.
Unphased Thompson came forward immediately, he took another shot to the eye and blood started running down his face. He clinched up and held Patrick against the ropes landing a knee before the ref separated them again.
Continuing to come forward and put the pressure on Thompson landed a jab knocking Patrick back on to the ropes, as he bounced back towards Thompson, he threw a perfectly timed cross that landed flush and immediately dropped Patrick to the canverse. Patrick couldn’t stand for the count and the ref waved it off.
A great first round, KO win over a very experienced opponent for Jacob Thompson who continues to shine.
congratulations Jacob! on to the next one!
