Alfie Pearse wins World title!

On Saturday March 23rd 2024 from Omni Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand Alfie Pearse took on Peemai Por Kobkua for the SKS 145lbs World title. This is a step up in weight for Pearse and his 2nd fight this year.

Peemai started quickly with several solid low kicks attempting to take out the lead leg of Pearse. He followed these up with accurate punches trying to keep Pearse away from the clinch and landing some good heavy head shots, leaving Pearse with bloody nose.

Towards the end of round one Pearse found his way in and started to have success in the clinch finding a home for several good knees and a couple of solid elbows.

Arguably Peemai had the best of round one and Pearse’s corner had to do a bit of a clean up job to stem the flow of blood from his nose.

In the second round Pearse came out revitalised and started strong using a flurry of punches and elbows to work his way into the clinch backing his opponent up to the ropes before being separated by the referee. Pearse immediately clinched again and landed a loverly sweep putting Peemai to the floor. Pearse wasted no time marching forward and clinching again, finding his rhythm now, he delivered 8 heavy elbows the last of which knocked Peemai down resulting in a standing 8 count from the referee.

On the restart Pearse immediately marched forward and delivered another series of 8 devastatingly accurate elbows backing Peemai into the corner where the referee jumped in and waved it off.

TKO win for Pearse. Another emphatic victory, another fantastic and entertaining performance and a World title win for the young English fighter on Thai soil.

Pearse is looking more and more comfortable under the traditional Thai rule set. He’s really starting to find and implement his style, using his height well with devastating consequences for his opponents.

We all look forward to his next fight as he continues to grow and deliver, making his family and his team mates proud of his achievements and leaving them excited for more.

Congratulations Alfie!
