Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Fundamentals
The fundamental core of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to bring the fight to the ground, control your opponent using pins and positional control to set up your attacks and finish with a submission.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a bottomless pit of technique and you can spend a life time improving your skills in many areas. Here at Hertford Combat Academy, we have a specific 60-minute class that is structured to work through the core fundamental concepts and techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This class is open to both beginners & experienced practitioners as there is no ending to the learning of fundamental concepts.
A typical class will consist of a short warm up and mobility exercises before working through a specific fundamental technique/topic. There may be some specific, light, positional sparring or “rolling” at the end of the session to work through what has been covered during the class in a more practical and realistic manor.
We strongly recommend attending this class for the first few weeks as an absolute beginner. This ensures that you understand the basics before progressing to the main classes where the mixture of levels and abilities on the mat is widely varied.
